Lily qualified for the Mini Marathon back in January (Herts County Champs) where she came 2nd. The athlete who came first (Ami Weightman decided to run for London where she trains) so Lily was very lucky to be offered a place to run for the second year running. She was picked up by the team coach coming from Norwich lead by the team manager, David Pring. She spent the Saturday evening at the Royal Holloway, University of London with her team and was then escorted to the start of the race on Sunday morning. It was a very hot day and she was running against some very strong athletes. She finished 45/243 overall (36/65 in the British Athletics Road Champs) so didn’t do as well as her 29th position last year but she put this down to not being able to train last couple of weeks (too hot in Thailand!), not getting a good nights sleep and starting at the back of the pack!

After the race, we went to watch the main Marathon and were lucky to be able to watch Mo Farah race (coming in 3rd) as well as some amazing friends who were also running … an awesome and inspiring day!
